A Metropolitan Holiday Party

Share

Entertainers at heart, Jody Zimmerman and Glenn Price invite friends over two or three times a month, sometimes for casual dinners, other times for more elaborate occasions. But it's during the holidays that they harness all of their entertaining experience to host truly spectacular parties.

Not all holiday surprises are in wrapped boxes. In fact, some of the best surprises are right out in the open, just waiting to be savored in every sense of the word. "We love all of the Traditional looks of Christmas but for this party we wanted a slightly different feel and look. We wanted to host a party that had lots of unexpected touches, from the food to the décor. One night at Café Metro, one of our favorite restaurants, we began planning the party. Suddenly we realized that "Metro" presented the theme we wanted, full of glamour and lavish with the use of gold, silver and lots of glitter," says Jody. "Our idea was that the party must be chic and sophisticated but still embrace our guests with the warmth and spirit of the season," adds Glenn.
Their conversation about plans for their Metropolitan Christmas party was overheard by Café Metro owner Nancy Shepherd. Not being a person to hide her enthusiasm, she exclaimed, "I want to come! And I have a great idea. Let's invite Gary Byler, the restaurant's chef, to help design the menu and lend his culinary expertise in the kitchen!"
Glenn and Jody worked with Gary on a menu that made guests feel as if they were receiving a beautiful, sumptuous Christmas present with each course. The special holiday treats included Kentucky spoonfish caviar and Champagne. Each course was paired with a special wine from Bacchus Distributing. Glenn and Jody know how to celebrate!

The table décor was a vision of chic, Metropolitan holiday splendor. Silver and gold stars were scattered over a white linen tablecloth and a red runner with metallic embellishments. Festive red napkin covers dressed up white linen napkins. Gold and silver further shimmered by Jody's use of gold place cards with silver lettering. Brass ring holders in the shape of animals, given as gifts to guests, provided a touch that was both whimsical and striking in their simplicity. Fresh flowers adorned the table that was set with Glenn and Jody's favorite china and crystal.
The party's Metropolitan menu, an amazingly orchestrated blend of Contemporary French, Asian and Greek influences featured:
